General FAQs

  1. Who is this app for?
    1. Our app connects users looking for accommodation, community and contacts. We are hoping to make travel easier, convenient and affordable.  It is targeted to those that need such services quickly, people who work in the Film, TV and Media industry.  For SA’s and Crew mainly.
    2. You can become either a ‘host’ by listing your spare rooms, this will be important to build up our accommodation network. Or become a ‘guest’.  Ideally use both services as required.
    3. The app also offers scheduling and networking features. Diarise your scheduled work days so you don’t forget or double book.
    4. Furthermore you can opt into our search network, this enables our members to search and see if other members are working on the same day and production. This helps find friends, liaise and even share journeys if that’s possible.
    5. We have a private message chat room so you can contact like minded filming friends and colleagues.
  2. How do I create an account?
    1. Simply download the app, click on “Sign Up,” and follow the prompts to create your account using your email and registered phone number. 
    2. Please note when you register the first time we will ask for a base address as well as your email and phone. 
    3. Please note the registration will not accept a fake address.  Enter your postcode first and you will notice a drop-down menu and from here select your address. Do not fill the address fields manually.
  3. Is my personal information safe?
    1. Yes, we prioritize your privacy and use encryption and coding rules to protect your data. Please review our Privacy Policy for more details. [Goto website www.casting-space.com or App / Settings / Terms of Service / Privacy]. 
    2. We will need to share information, but only relevant personal information will be shared after host and guest have been matched, not before.  The host must first accept and only then will they get your email, phone and thereafter you will be able to message to conclude a successful booking.
    3. Taking note from data risk and process needs we do not retain your payment card details.  When a payment is made then this is encrypted.
    4. As a host we need to hold your bank account details however these are not shown to anyone except you.

 

  1. How does this differ to a Facebook group I could use?
  1. We offer some distinct advantages over a general Facebook group page since we are a customised app service. The main advantages are listed:
  • You book accommodation specific to your search. We hope to build up a good solid source of accommodation but this will take time so please be patient.
  • We hope to help you save some of your costs through the app service. You will find us easier over time since you can rebook and retain on the app a list of friends or actors whom you can recommend to others.
  • We have a diary feature to help you schedule your workdays.
  • On the diary feature you can choose to share your work schedule with others and search for your contemporaries’ work schedules. This is an option only from which you can opt-out.
  • To cover for base costs to support the app we charge a small % fee.
  1. You are naturally free to arrange trips and correspondence as you wish using our private chat room features.

Safety

  1. Will I be safe?
  1. Yes, as much as possible we prioritize your safety.
  2. We cannot check for everything however and we expect you to take personal responsibility as well.
  3. Accommodation works in a way similar to other accommodation booking apps. We will not release the full address on the app. A ‘host‘ can decide when to release the address details to the ‘guest’ along with specific time of arrival and interact through the private chat room according to your wishes. Again, use your own judgement.

Payment 

  1.  How can I pay?  What do I pay?
  1. Payment is made through a common payment gateway where you can use common debit and credit cards.
  2. Payment for accommodation must be made up front after the host has agreed the booking to secure it. No payment needs to take place until a stay has been agreed between the parties.
  3. Once done a booking will remain at ‘unpaid’ in the host account until the host is happy that the booking is completed. When the host presses the completed button then this works to release payment.
  4. There are notifications through the payment process to both host and guest.

 

  1. How can I get paid as a host?
  1. Payment is made automatically after the host confirms that the stay has been completed. By confirming ‘completed’ on the host account this action releases the payment process which will then occur within a few days after the completion.
  2. If a Guest cancels, and they are entitled to so, up to 12 hours before a booking, then you will not receive any payment.

 

  1. Can I cancel and then get a refund?
  1. Things happen at short notice in the filming industry so if a day’s filming is cancelled then so long as you cancel your accommodation within 12 hours, then you can cancel. 
  2. Either a guest or host can cancel with up to 12 hours to go.

How do I get started?

  1. First register
  2. To register you must enter a valid email and phone number. Before you can submit your details successfully you need to enter a valid address.  A fake address will not allow you to register.
  • Enter a valid postcode
  • See the magnifying glass icon and click here to select the correct address
  • Do not populate the address fields manually.

 

 

 

 

For Users Seeking Accommodation

  1. How do I search for accommodation?
    1. Enter your location (Town/Postcode), travel date / time, to find available listings.
  1. Can I filter my accommodation search?
  2. Yes! You can filter results by location (Town, County, Postcode) or number of rooms, to find what suits you best close to the filming location.

 

For Users Offering Accommodation

  1. How can I list my property?
    1. Tap on “Add Listing” fill in the necessary details, upload photos for home and room, and submit your listing for review.
    2. The more details you can put in, the more information for guests and the more likely to get noticed.
  2. How dob I manage bookings for my accommodation?
    1. You can view bookings through the “My Listing Orders” section of the app.
  3. What fees do you charge for hosting?
    1. We charge a small % service fee on each booking. During our launch phase we are going to waiver this.
    2. All Payments will also have a finance fee which will be shown.

  1. What should I do if I encounter a problem?
    1. Please reach out to our support team via the “Support” section in the app, where you can report issues or ask for assistance.

  1. What do I do if I forgot my password?
    1. Click on “Forgot Password” on the login page, and follow the instructions to reset it.

 

Additional Information

 We are currently running a commission free service for the first few months of launch (there will still be a very small transaction fee payable by the host. This is not charged and retained by Casting Space but retained by our financial service provider.)
